Joint Board Member Opportunity

for Brockville & Area Community Living Association (BACLA) and Community Living North Grenville (CLNG)

Are you passionate about inclusion, community, and creating meaningful impact for people with intellectual disabilities?

BACLA and CLNG are seeking a community-minded individual to serve as a Joint Board Director supporting two respected not-for-profit organizations dedicated to empowering people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live full, inclusive, and meaningful lives in their communities.

About the Organizations

BACLA supports people with intellectual disabilities and their families throughout Brockville and area, fostering communities where all people are valued, respected, included, and empowered to live meaningful lives.

Community Living North Grenville advocates for and supports individuals with intellectual disabilities to participate fully in all aspects of community life through person-centred supports, inclusion, and citizenship.

Together, both organizations share a commitment to dignity, belonging, community participation, and person-directed support.

The Opportunity

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Believe in inclusive communities and social impact
  • Bring strategic thinking and community leadership
  • Can contribute to governance, oversight, and organizational sustainability
  • Value collaboration, accountability, and innovation
  • Are committed to advancing equity, inclusion, and belonging

We are particularly seeking candidates with expertise or experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
  • Legal Profession / Legal Governance
  • Finance and Audit
  • System Integration and Collaborative Development
  • Governance and board leadership

Lived experience as a family member, caregiver, self-advocate, or community advocate is also highly valued.

Commitment

  • Approximately 5 hours per month
  • Approximately 10 board meetings annually
  • Opportunities to participate in committees or strategic initiatives
  • Hybrid and virtual participation options are available
