Volunteer Board Member - Director, Treasurer

New Collar Collective is looking for a volunteer who is a CPA to join our Board of Directors. We are a non-profit animal rescue based out of Toronto, ON.

Are you a growth-oriented, strategic thinker with a love for cats and dogs? New Collar Collective, a Toronto-based, 100% volunteer-run, non-profit animal rescue, is looking for a Director, Treasurer with accounting experience who would like to make a difference in the lives of animals in need.

As a member of the Board of Directors, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the growth and sustainability of this charity, making a profound impact on the lives of our animals and our community. This is a working Board Member position.

Role: Director, Treasurer

Commitment: 12 month term

Compensation: Volunteer

Time commitment is approximately 3 to 5 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare for and attend monthly Board meetings
• Oversee and ensure monthly settlement, bookkeeping and reconciliation of all transactions on a timely basis.
• Prepare financial statements, budgets, and reports for the Board, government, and operations as required.
• Complete government tax filings and liaise with external accountants as needed.
• Develop and implement fiscal policies and procedures.
• Support organizational strategy and financial sustainability.
• Collaborate with Team Leads and other operational volunteers as needed.
• Chair the Finance Committee and participate in other committees.
• Support the organization’s mission by performing other tasks as needed, and participating in fundraising initiatives.

Requirements:

• Professional experience in accounting; designation as a Chartered Professional Accountant an asset.
• Experience with specific charity and not-for-profit accounting and regulations are an asset.
• Experience with Quickbooks Online is required.
