Location: Hamilton, ON
Commitment: Volunteer / Part-Time (Board Governance)

DARTS is seeking dedicated and community-minded individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a leader in accessible transit for individuals with disabilities and seniors, DARTS plays a vital role in ensuring mobility, dignity, and independence for our community.

We are particularly interested in candidates who:

  • Have lived experience as a user of DARTS services
  • Bring experience in finance or accounting
  • Have professional or governance experience in the health care sector
  • Identify as part of an equity-deserving or visible minority group
    (We strongly encourage individuals from underrepresented communities to apply.)

About the Role

Board Directors collectively guide the governance, strategic direction, and fiscal health of DARTS. You will contribute your expertise and perspective to advance our mission of accessible transportation in Hamilton.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend and actively participate in Board and committee meetings
  • Uphold fiduciary duties and act in the best interest of the organization
  • Support and monitor DARTS’ strategic plan, performance, and overall impact
  • Serve on at least one standing or ad hoc committee
  • Review and approve budgets, reports, and organizational policies
  • Act as an ambassador for DARTS within the community
  • Contribute to the mission, strategy, and long-term goals of the organization
  • Provide oversight through a governance-focused Board role

Qualifications

  • Must be a member of the Corporation and at least 18 years of age
  • Commitment to accessibility, equity, inclusion, and community service
  • Ability to understand and act on financial and operational reports
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills
  • Prior board or committee experience is an asset, but not required
