Mannahelp is seeking expressions of interest for one Volunteer Board Member position.
Mannahelp is a registered charity focused on reducing hunger, addressing basic needs, and creating sustainable community solutions. We are seeking a dedicated, community-minded individual to join our Board of Directors and help guide the organization through its next stage of growth and impact.
We are specifically looking for an active and committed Board Member who is ready to contribute their time, skills, expertise, and networks to help Mannahelp grow and strengthen its impact.
Mannahelp is a Black-led charity serving communities in Durham Region and beyond. Our mission is to help address hunger, reduce barriers to basic needs, and support communities through compassionate and practical programs that respond to real needs.
We believe that everyone deserves access to healthy food, dignity, opportunity, and a supportive community. We are committed to creating practical solutions that strengthen families, empower youth, and build more equitable and sustainable communities.
We are committed to building a board that reflects the communities we serve, including Black, racialized, newcomer, and underserved communities. We strongly welcome applications from individuals with lived experience, community knowledge, cultural understanding, and trusted connections within Black communities in Durham Region.
We value diverse perspectives and particularly welcome candidates who have experience serving, advocating for, or working alongside Black, newcomer, and underserved communities.
Our work includes food support for families and individuals in need, distribution of hygiene items, clothing, and school supplies, community garden initiatives, and partnerships with donors, volunteers, and community organizations to expand impact.
The Board of Directors provides strategic direction to help ensure Mannahelp remains mission focused. Board Members are expected to actively support the organization through fundraising, community connections, committee participation, and ambassadorial leadership.
At this time, we welcome applications from individuals with a strong interest in community service and experience in areas such as nonprofit governance, fundraising, finance, bookkeeping, legal or policy, strategic planning, marketing, communications, public relations, community development, and partnership-building. Knowledge of Durham Region communities and networks is considered an asset.

• Support fundraising and resource development efforts.
• Help build relationships with donors and community stakeholders.
• Contribute to community outreach, engagement, and other hands-on efforts that help move the organization forward.
• Act in the best interest of the organization at all times.

Estimated time commitment is approximately 4–8 hours per month, depending on committee involvement and organizational priorities.
