ASCY is Now Accepting Applications for the Volunteer Board of Directors.

ASCY – Affiliated Services for Children and Youth serving the Hamilton, Niagara, Brant, and Haldimand-Norfolk communities.

ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION:
Affiliated Services for Children and Youth (ASCY) provides multiple services including capacity
building via professional learning, mentorship and resources to Early Childhood Educators in
the City of Hamilton and Haldimand-Norfolk. ASCY is the lead organization for the Preschool
Speech and Language Services in Hamilton and is the lead agency of the Central South Infant
Hearing Program and Central South Blind-Low Vision Early Intervention Program (serving
children and their families in Hamilton, Niagara, Brant and Haldimand-Norfolk).

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The ASCY Board operates under a results-based, policy board model. This model is a
collaborative partnership between the Board and Executive Director with a focus on vision,
strategic planning and agency governance. Board members are not involved in the
management of operations.

SKILLS AND EXPERTISE:

ASCY is looking for individuals who can volunteer their time and talents to our volunteer Board
of Directors. Applicants will share our belief in:

• Quality care and education as an important early investment that leads to later
  outcomes of success for all children
• The vision that all children belong and have equitable opportunities to thrive
• Capacity building and mentorship of educators that work with young children
• Early identification, prevention and intervention and capacity building to support
  children to achieve their developmental milestones
• Collaboration with families, children, professionals and communities to share
  knowledge, build capacity and create equitable opportunities for all

Currently the ASCY Board of Directors consists of members with a variety of lenses, including
Health, Education, Children and Social Services. We are committed to cultivating an inclusive
Board, rich in knowledge and experience, and seek to create a Board that reflects the
diversity of the families and communities we serve.
