Board of Directors
Since 1993, Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation (AIWC) has been a champion for the rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife. Accredited through the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association, AIWC serves the needs of Alberta’s diverse wildlife in Calgary and southern Alberta.
As a registered charity, AIWC relies on charitable donations and dedicated volunteers to support the more than 1,900 varied animals in need of care every year. AIWC welcomes Alberta’s injured and orphaned wildlife, small and large, from hummingbirds to black bear cubs.

AIWC is committed to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of injured and orphaned wildlife. We provide expert advice and education that fosters an appreciation of wildlife.
AIWC is accepting applications for directors to serve on our Board of Directors. This position is best suited to individuals with a passion for wildlife and wildlife conservation, and a strong interest in being a part of AIWC’s governing body.
Position Length: 2-year term with option to extend.
Position Responsibilities
- Attend monthly board meetings.
- Contribute to committee work (dependent on work needed/area of expertise).
- Actively advocate for AIWC among your networks.
- Provide advice and guidance according to your expertise.
- Minimum 3 hours per month.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Strong passion for wildlife and conservation.
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas: capital campaign management, public relations, human resources, grants and fundraising, legal, strategic planning, etc.
- Previous non-profit management work, as either a Board member, employee or volunteer.
- Strong ethics and sense of accountability.
- Willingness to collaborate and work in a team environment.
