CANES Community Care - Volunteer Board Directors

Are you interested in making a difference in your community by helping older adults remain healthy and independent at home – where they want to be – while keeping them connected to the community in which they live? CANES Community Care, a long-standing non-profit serving over 6,000 residents in the Greater Toronto Area, is seeking Volunteer Board Directors to provide governance, strategic oversight, and leadership during an important period of organizational growth and transition. Collaborating with a new Chief Executive Officer and refreshed leadership team, the Board is looking to shape a new strategic plan that will create social impact for the diverse communities of Etobicoke, Brampton, Etobicoke, Mississauga, Oakville, and Halton Hills

Director Experience Requirement

The Ideal Candidates must demonstrate:

  • A minimum of 1–2 years of previous committee and leadership experience
  • The ability to contribute at a governance and strategic level, distinct from operational management
  • Previous not-for-profit and community-based board experience is considered an asset

Priority Competencies

CANES is seeking individuals who bring expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Health care administration and health policy
  • Clinical expertise and/or health system knowledge
  • Government relations or public affairs
  • Communications
  • Patient/client and broader health care experience (including lived experience perspectives)
  • Finance and financial oversight
  • Human resources and people strategy
