Volunteer Board Secretary – SAINTS Rescue (Senior Animals In Need Today Society)

SAINTS is seeking expressions of interest for a volunteer Board Secretary to join our Board of Directors.

For nearly two decades, SAINTS has provided a safe haven for senior, palliative, and special-needs animals who have nowhere else to go. Our sanctuary is built on the philosophy of palliative care — tending to the mind, body, and soul — and our Board plays a critical role in ensuring the long-term sustainability of this work.

About the Role

The Board Secretary is an essential governance position responsible for maintaining accountability. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about animal welfare and nonprofit governance.

Key responsibilities include (from the role description):

  • Maintaining up-to-date bylaws, policies, and official records.
  • Ensuring accurate minutes and board attendance records.
  • Managing Google Workspace administration (users, groups, permissions). A strong understanding of Google Workspace and Google Admin management is necessary
  • Coordinating quarterly board meeting scheduling and logistics.
  • Supporting compliance with BC Registry filings.
  • Facilitating Board meetings through Zoom.
  • Participating fully as a Director, including strategic planning, policy oversight, and ambassadorial duties.

This is a 5-year volunteer term, with board meetings held every 6–8 weeks.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a governance team
  • Attention to detail and a forward-thinking mindset
  • Understanding of strategic planning and nonprofit governance
  • Comfort with basic financial statements
  • Familiarity with SAINTS’ mission and values (or willingness to learn)

We are inviting prospective board members to submit:

  • A brief letter of interest outlining

o why you are interested in serving on a volunteer board, and

o why SAINTS’ mission and sanctuary work resonate with you.

  • A short CV or résumé highlighting relevant experience, skills, or community involvement.

Board terms, expectations, and responsibilities will be shared with shortlisted candidates as part of our recruitment process.

If you are passionate about animal welfare, nonprofit governance, and contributing to a compassionate, mission-driven organization, we would be grateful to hear from you.

Please send your letter of interest and CV to sheila.kullar@saintsrescue.ca by July 30th 2026.
