
Volunteer board director
The Grand Philharmonic Choir (GPC), based in Kitchener, Ontario, seeks individuals who are interested in supporting the GPC by serving as a volunteer director on the GPC board. The board meets six times a year.
Expectations of board members include: supporting the values, vision, mission, strategic priorities and board policies of the GPC; understanding the importance of choral music and music education; reading and understanding the GPC's financial statements and board materials in advance of meetings; attending board meetings and participating in discussions; respecting the opinions and experience of other board directors; financially supporting the GPC as they are able, and promoting the choir in the wider community; and being willing to serve on board committees or staff-led advisory committees.
The GPC board is committed to recruiting individuals from diverse backgrounds, skill sets and experience such as non-profit governance, charity law, finance, marketing, communication, fundraising, choral music, strategic planning, diversity, equity and inclusion, and media/government relations. In particular, the GPC is currently looking for individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Finance
- Board governance
- Fundraising/community connections
- Communications/marketing
