Volunteer Board Director

Humane Canada is inviting applications from experienced leaders to join its Board of Directors and help advance a more humane Canada for all animals.

About Humane Canada

As the national federation of SPCAs and humane societies, Humane Canada unites Canada’s largest animal welfare community. We work across advocacy, public policy, research, and sector leadership to drive systemic change and strengthen animal protection nationwide.

About the Role

Board Directors provide strategic oversight, ensure strong governance, and support the long-term sustainability of the organization. This is an opportunity to help steward a respected national organization as it deepens partnerships, enhances its services to members, and strengthens its long-term impact.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome candidates who:

• Bring senior leadership or board experience
• Have a strong commitment to animal welfare and systemic change
• Can contribute expertise in finance, governance, law, fundraising, social enterprise, or association leadership
• Value collaboration, accountability, and inclusive leadership

Time Commitment

• Approximately 10 hours per month
• One or more Board committees
• Quarterly meetings (virtual/hybrid)
