Seniors First BC is seeking Board Members

Seniors First BC is a charitable, non-profit society that provides information, advocacy, emotional support, and referrals to older adults across BC who are dealing with issues affecting their well-being or rights. In addition, we assist those concerned about the welfare of an older adult.

We run the Seniors Abuse and Information Line, a Victim Services program, an Elder Law Clinic and other legal information and support services.

Our current strategic priorities include advancing systemic change to address the experiences of low income older adults in BC as well as enhancing our stability and long term capacity after the challenges of COVID. We seek to address the legal rights of seniors and elders through accessible legal information, referral as well as, whenever possible, legal advice and representation.

We are seeking new Board members to provide:

Insight based on professional and personal lived experience to support the leadership and excellent organizational decision-making

Knowledge of emerging issues faced by older adults of all cultural and linguistic backgrounds in BC; and

Thoughtful legal oversight responsibilities in support of a talented staff team.

To do this, we are seeking individuals with knowledge of seniors’ and elders’ issues in BC. We seek multi-lingual individuals with roots in a diversity of cultural communities, particularly BC’s First Nations, individuals living outside the Lower Mainland, and individuals who identify as LGBTQ2+.
