Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back using your professional skills? Do you believe in supporting seniors with compassion, dignity, and respect? The Port Coquitlam Senior Citizens’ Housing Society (PCSCHS) invites you to consider a role on our Board of Directors.
Since 1958, PCSCHS has been a trusted provider of seniors' housing and care in Port Coquitlam. Through our two main operations—Hawthorne Seniors Care Community (long-term care, assisted living, and adult day programs) and Dogwood Seniors Housing (affordable housing for seniors) - we serve hundreds of older adults every day.
We are currently seeking committed and values-aligned professionals to join our volunteer Board of Directors. As a governance board members provide strategic leadership and oversight to ensure the long-term health, integrity, and effectiveness of the organization. Board members focus on the "big picture" – setting direction, ensuring accountability, and safeguarding the mission. Board members are not involved in day-to-day operations, but they do play a vital role in shaping policies, guiding executive leadership, and ensuring resources are used responsibly and ethically.
Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Direction: Helping define and uphold the organization’s mission, vision, and long-term goals.

Oversight: Monitoring financial performance, risk management, legal compliance, and the performance of the CEO.

Accountability: Ensuring transparency to stakeholders, including funders, clients, and the public.

Advocacy & Ambassadorship: Representing the organization in the community and helping build relationships and credibility.

Resource Stewardship: Approval of the annual budget, approving major policies, and ensuring resources are aligned with the mission.

Prior board experience is helpful but not required—we value commitment, integrity, and a genuine passion for community service.
