About Out Of Bounds

Out Of Bounds: Grief & Trauma Support [OOB] is a Toronto-based nonprofit organization supporting families, youth, mothers, and communities impacted by trauma, grief, and gun violence. Rooted in the Jane and Finch community, OOB provides safe, trauma-informed spaces for healing, resilience, dialogue, leadership, and community connection.

Through workshops, healing circles, community engagement, and survivor-centred programming, OOB works to strengthen families and communities while creating pathways for long-term healing and social change.

Position Summary

OOB is seeking four Volunteer Administrative Support Interns to support the Executive Director, staff, and program team with day-to-day administrative, operational, and event-related tasks.

This is a practical, hands-on volunteer opportunity for individuals who want to gain experience in nonprofit administration, community programming, event support, volunteer coordination, and organizational operations.

The role is ideal for students, recent graduates, emerging nonprofit professionals, or community members who are organized, reliable, compassionate, and interested in supporting a grassroots organization serving communities affected by grief, trauma, and gun violence.

Volunteers may support online administrative tasks, in-person program preparation, workshop logistics, data entry, document organization, communication follow-up, and other recurring tasks that help the organization run smoothly.

Role Structure

1. In-Person Volunteer Administrative Support Interns Two positions are available. These volunteers should be located in or near Jane and Finch, North York, or be able to travel reliably to support occasional in-person activities, workshops, community events, meetings, or program preparation.

2. Online Volunteer Administrative Support Interns Two positions are available. These volunteers will support remote administrative tasks, digital file management, scheduling support, research, document preparation, tracking, and communication-related work.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on organizational needs, availability, and whether the role is in person or online, responsibilities may include:

• Supporting the Executive Director and staff with administrative follow-up
• Organizing files, folders, documents, templates, forms, and program materials
• Assisting with scheduling, calendar coordination, reminders, and meeting preparation
• Preparing basic drafts of emails, notices, forms, sign-in sheets, and program documents
• Supporting workshop preparation, including materials, registration lists, attendance sheets, and participant follow-up
• Helping with in-person event setup, greeting participants, sign-in support, room preparation, and cleanup
• Assisting with data entry, contact lists, volunteer lists, attendance tracking, and basic reporting information
• Supporting repetitive operational tasks that help staff save time and stay organized
• Maintaining organized records in Google Drive or other shared folders
• Helping prepare simple summaries, checklists, and internal updates
• Supporting community engagement activities when needed
• Assisting with basic research related to programs, services, partners, or community resources
• Helping ensure that tasks are completed in a timely, respectful, and confidential manner

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Reliable, professional, and able to follow through on assigned tasks
• Comfortable using Google Docs, Google Sheets, Gmail, and Google Drive
• Able to communicate clearly and respectfully
• Able to work independently after receiving instructions
• Comfortable handling sensitive community-based work with discretion
• Interest in nonprofit administration, community service, trauma-informed work, social services, or grassroots organizations
• Previous volunteer, administrative, student placement, or community experience is an asset
• For in-person roles, connection to or familiarity with Jane and Finch, North York, or surrounding communities is a strong asset

Time Commitment

This is a six-month volunteer role with an expected commitment of up to 6 hours per week.

Hours may vary depending on program schedules, workshops, meetings, and administrative needs. Some weeks may require fewer hours. In-person volunteers may occasionally be asked to support evening or weekend events, based on availability.
