About Us: The Vancouver Helpers is dedicated to ensuring that all students in South West BC receive the academic support they need to become fearless learners. We offer free online tutoring and language sessions for elementary, junior high school, and high school students.T
he Vancouver Helpers is a youth run organization and we are looking for youth leaders to apply for this position. The Vancouver Helpers is run in partnership with Little Things Count and Red Fox Healthy Living Society.

Job Description:
We are seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to serve as Virtual Volunteer Tutors at The Vancouver Helpers. In this role, you will provide one-on-one online tutoring sessions to students in various subjects and age groups.

As a volunteer, you will have the flexibility to choose the subjects and age groups you are most comfortable with, as well as your weekly availability. Whether you're helping elementary students with basic math, guiding high schoolers through complex science topics, or offering language support, you will play a critical role in empowering students and fostering academic confidence.

Responsibilities:

  • Tutor Students Online: Provide online tutoring sessions to students in subjects of your choice, based on your strengths and interests.
  • Offer Flexible Scheduling: Choose your own weekly availability, making it easier to balance this role with other commitments.
  • Create a Supportive Learning Environment: Help students build academic skills and confidence, offering encouragement and clear explanations.
  • Adapt to Student Needs: Tailor your tutoring methods to meet the unique needs and learning styles of each student.

Role Requirements:

  • Vulnerable Sector and Criminal Record Checks: All tutors must undergo a vulnerable sector check and provide a criminal record check before starting the role.
  • Passion for Education: A genuine desire to help students succeed academically and personally.
  • Effective Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain concepts clearly and in an engaging manner.
  • Youth Applicants Encouraged: As The Vancouver Helpers is a youth-run organization, we encourage youth applicants to apply, though volunteers of all ages are welcome.
  • No Prior Tutoring Experience Necessary: Training will be provided to all volunteers, so no previous tutoring experience is required.
