Virtual Events Lead, Volunteer Engagement

Established in 2016, Fetch + Releash is a volunteer run dog rescue dedicated to saving dogs in need. Our foster dogs come from a variety of different backgrounds such as pounds and shelters, strays and surrendered pets, both locally and abroad. Through our network of volunteers, foster homes, trainers and veterinarians, we strive to give every dog the loving forever family they deserve. As a foster-based dog rescue, our foster dogs live in private homes across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) where they receive the love and attention they need to prepare them for adoption.

By collaborating with local and international communities, our mission is to save dogs in danger of homelessness, abuse, neglect or euthanasia. Once in our care, we match each dog with the loving forever family they deserve.

Advocacy

In addition to re-homing dogs, we are passionate about advocating for animal rights and educating the public on relevant issues such as:

• Backyard breeding
• Overpopulation and the importance of spay & neuter
• Chained animals

Dogs are sentient beings with the right to nutritious food, a life enriched with adequate exercise and mental stimulation, veterinary care and love.

Education

A dog is a lifetime commitment and not to be discarded due to health, lifestyle change or inconvenience. Some of the top reasons dogs end up in shelters are lack of training, lifestyle changes (i.e. new baby, marriage), relocation, cost of dog ownership, not enough time for pet etc. Our goal is to ensure our adoptive families are well versed in the realities of dog ownership and ready to make a lifetime commitment.

Position Summary:

The Volunteer Engagement – Virtual Events Lead will play a pivotal role in designing, coordinating, and delivering high-quality virtual events that foster connection, learning, and volunteer engagement. This role requires professional experience in virtual event leadership, strong organizational skills, and a passion for creating meaningful volunteer experiences in an online environment.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, lead, and facilitate virtual events (webinars, training, workshops, volunteer appreciation gatherings).
• Manage technical setup and troubleshoot during events.
• Collaborate with the team to align events with volunteer engagement goals.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for event participants.
• Track attendance, gather feedback, and report on outcomes.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

As part of volunteer engagement team and under the guidance and direction of the Volunteer Manager, works independently as well as part of a team.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Remote
• Participate in bi-weekly engagement team, monthly check in and bi-annual team meetings
• The ability to volunteer 3-5 hours min per week

QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES

• 2 yrs min. professional experience leading virtual events, including end-to-end planning, coordination, facilitation, and post-event evaluation.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to guide, motivate, and support volunteers or team members in a collaborative online environment.
• Proficiency with virtual event and collaboration platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet, with the ability to manage breakout rooms, screen sharing, and engagement tools.
• Proficient in Google Suite (Google Meet, Sheets, Docs, Gmail) with strong technical and organizational capabilities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across diverse groups.
• Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable, committed, and adaptable, demonstrating professionalism and accountability in all interactions.
• Positive and calm under pressure, maintaining focus and a solutions-oriented approach in stressful situations.
• Dynamic personality with a passion for leadership, volunteerism, community engagement, and rescue work.
• Collaborative team player who works well independently while fostering inclusion and shared success.
