STW™ is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to conduct water research to identify and remove harmful contaminants in water, and to raise public awareness about water contamination and its health impacts. STW™ also offers educational programs to excite young minds about water science.

VPs are expected to put in a minimum of 15 hours per week and be responsive to emails within two (2) calendar days.
The Vice President: Technology plays a pivotal leadership role in driving Save the Water’s (STW) technological strategy, ensuring robust and innovative solutions that support the organization’s mission of safeguarding access to clean water. This role is responsible for overseeing the organization’s IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, data management, and digital transformation efforts. The VP: Technology will lead the technology team, align IT strategies with organizational goals, and ensure the effective implementation of technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency and impact.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy and Innovation
- Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy that supports STW’s mission and operational goals.
- Identify and implement innovative technological solutions to improve data collection, research, and digital engagement.
- Ensure the integration and optimization of technology systems to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and recommend solutions that align with industry best practices.
IT Infrastructure and Security
- Oversee the management and maintenance of STW’s IT infrastructure, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.
- Develop and enforce IT security policies to safeguard organizational data and systems from cyber threats.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and best practices in information security.
- Oversee cloud-based and on-premise technology solutions to support remote and in-office operations.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the technology team, fostering innovation and collaboration.
- Work closely with all other teams to optimize technology-driven solutions for data management, research, and internal communications.
- Partner with the President, Board of Directors, and senior leadership to drive technology-related initiatives and improvements.
Data Management and Digital Transformation
- Develop and implement a data strategy that supports STW’s research, fundraising, and operational efforts.
- Oversee the collection, analysis, and secure storage of data to inform decision-making and enhance impact reporting.
- Lead the digital transformation of STW by optimizing internal processes through automation and advanced technologies.
- Ensure the organization’s technology platforms and software solutions meet evolving needs.
Performance Measurement and Reporting
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for technology initiatives and regularly report progress to senior leadership.
- Analyze trends and metrics to identify areas for improvement in IT operations and digital engagement.
- Ensure alignment between technology investments and the organization’s long-term objectives.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 8 years of leadership experience in IT strategy, technology management, or digital transformation.
- Proven experience overseeing IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and data management.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing, software development, and emerging technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement technology strategies that drive operational efficiency.
- High level of integrity, professional maturity, and sound judgment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with IT governance, compliance, and risk management best practices.
