About the Role

LandSeed is developing digital platforms and tools that help communities, planners, and developers better understand housing challenges and solutions.
We are seeking a UX/UI Designer (Volunteer) to help design intuitive, user-centered digital experiences for our platforms and tools.

In this role, you will focus on translating complex housing and development data into clear, accessible, and engaging user experiences. You will work closely with product, development, and research teams to design interfaces that make information easy to understand and actionable for a wide range of users.

At LandSeed, we believe technology should make complex systems easier to navigate. You will help shape the design of tools that support smarter housing development across Canada.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design User-Centered Experiences

Conduct user research and analyze user needs across different stakeholder groups
Develop user journeys, personas, and interaction flows for LandSeed platforms
Ensure digital tools are intuitive, accessible, and easy to navigate
Translate complex workflows into simple and effective user experiences

2. Create UX/UI Designs and Prototypes

Design wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity interface designs
Develop interactive prototypes to test user interactions and design concepts
Maintain consistent visual design standards across platforms and products
Ensure designs are responsive and accessible across devices

3. Collaborate with Product and Development Teams

Work closely with developers to ensure designs are technically feasible and implemented correctly
Translate product requirements into user-friendly design solutions
Iterate on designs based on feedback from users and team members
Support the integration of design into agile development workflows

4. Support the Development of LandSeed’s Digital Tools

Contribute to the design of dashboards and data visualization interfaces
Help design tools that make housing and development data easier to understand
Ensure interfaces support decision-making for planners, developers, and communities
Continuously refine designs based on testing and user feedback

Ideal Candidate

Experience in UX/UI design, product design, or human-centered design
Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar platforms
Strong understanding of user research, usability testing, and interaction design
Ability to translate complex information into simple and intuitive interfaces
Interest in civic technology, housing innovation, or data-driven platforms
Strong collaboration and communication skills
