URGENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Equipment Coordination Tea

The end of our season is fast approaching! To ensure every piece of gear is accounted for and ready for next year, we need to secure a dedicated Equipment Team by early next week. We are looking for a few good volunteers to support our staff across the GTA and help us close out the season strong.

The Mission

To act as the stewards of our physical assets, removing barriers to entry by ensuring every player has access to high-quality, safe, and correctly sized gear. By working as a team, we ensure no equipment is left behind and our inventory is ready for next season.

Key Responsibilities (Supporting HDA Staff)

Early Asset Recovery: Conduct small trips to various arenas prior to March 8th to collect equipment that has been dropped off early.

End-of-Season Collection: Facilitate the final equipment return process at each location, working directly under the guidance of the Program Manager and Program Coordinator.

Tournament Support: Facilitate the final large-scale equipment return at our year-end tournament.

Inventory Management: Assist in updating our "kit tracker" to assess our stock levels for next year.

The "Off-Season Prep": Help coordinate professional skate sharpening and gear sanitization over the summer months.

Expert Fittings: Lead technical fitting sessions at the start of next season, prioritizing player safety and proper fit.

🏆 The Season Finale: Spring Classic Tournament

Date: Sunday, March 29, 2026

Location: Malvern Community Centre

Task: Facilitate the final major equipment return and inventory collection for the entire program as the tournament concludes.

🚨 Special Project: March Break Daytime Collection

We are also looking for volunteers available during the day (Monday–Friday) during March Break to assist with a separate collection of our TDSB school programs. (Details: TBD).

Who You Are

Technical Knowledge: You understand hockey gear mechanics (skate profiles, pads, etc.) and prioritize safety above all else.

Community-Minded: You are passionate about the HDA’s mission to change hockey culture and make the game inclusive for everyone.

Reliable & Mobile: Access to a vehicle is essential for moving gear between hubs, especially for the early pickups and March wrap-up.
