Unpaid Volunteer Position

Okyerema International Foundation is looking for a Treasurer-Bookkeeper to serve as an unpaid Officer and Director on the Board. While Directors serve one year at a term, we would prefer an individual who can offer a multi-year commitment. Our accounting records are currently maintained in Quickbooks.
Role and Responsibilities
- Manage bank accounts, including statement reconciliations, including oversight of deposits and as an approved signatory for outgoing payments, electronic fund transfers and banking agreements.
- Manage donations, reports and deposits through our online fundraising portal (tax receipts will be taken care of via the online portal.) Review donations to ensure there is no fraudulent activity.
- Make recommendations to the President and the Board of Directors regarding banking activities and fees.
- Preparation and filing of annual financial statements
- Produce weekly reports for the President, and financial reports for presentation at Board meetings. Ensure regular review and feedback.
Time Commitment
- 5 to 10 hours per month, inclusive of a Board meetings and committee/special project meetings, fundraising events, and stakeholder engagement.
- Term: 2 years, renewable.
- Board meetings are held every 4 to 6 weeks, virtually via Zoom or other online meeting site and are approximately 1 – 1.5 hrs. duration
- Committee meeting schedules will be determined by the committee members
- Special or emergency meetings may be arranged as needed
Desired Skills and Experience
We seek candidates with bookkeeping and/or accounting experience; Accounting experience with an Ontario-incorporated Charity would be an asset
