Unpaid Volunteer Position
As a member of our Board Executive, the Treasurer will oversee the general financial management of Donate A Mask. The Treasurer will contribute their expertise to support the financial health of our organization. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys accounting and who wants to be part of a solution for healthier communities.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee budgeting, bookkeeping, and monthly financial reports.
- Complete key financial reconciliations and reviews at month end.
- File quarterly HST return and complete annual T3010 Registered Charity Information Return.
- Ensure financial controls are in place. Oversee annual financial audit, preparing audit working papers, scheduling work with auditors, responding to audit questions.
- Present financial reports at Board meetings and at Annual General Meeting.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board to guide financial decisions.
Skills and qualities:
- Integrity, discretion, and reliability. Alignment with Donate A Mask vision, mission and values.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and financially literate.
- Familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks an asset).
- Background in accounting / finance. Accounting designation or similar experience.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping and best practices.
- Comfortable using online tools like Google Workspace and Slack.
Commitment:
- Attend 4-6 Board meetings and 1 Annual General Meeting per year.
- Approximately 15 hours per month (potentially more during Audit month)
- Ideally a 2-year term. Term begins June 2026 with onboarding and training January – May 2026.
