Position Type: Volunteer / Part-Time (5-10 hours per month) / Unpaid

Position Summary:

The Volunteer Treasurer plays a critical role in overseeing the financial health and integrity of the organization. As a member of the Board of Directors, the Treasurer is responsible for managing the organization's finances, ensuring accurate financial reporting, assisting with budgeting and planning, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory financial requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain oversight of the organization’s financial records and accounts.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the board.
  • Creation and monitoring of the annual budget.
  • Ensure appropriate financial controls and procedures are in place.
  • Collaborate with external accountants or auditors, if applicable.
  • Provide guidance on financial strategy and long-term planning.
  • Present financial updates at board meetings.
  • Serve as a signatory on checks and other financial documents as required.
  • Support fundraising efforts with financial tracking and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping (CPA designation a plus, but not required).
  • Familiarity with non-profit financial practices and reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to explain complex financial information to board members without financial backgrounds.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
  • Prior board experience (preferred, but not required).
  • Proficiency with Quickbooks and Excel.

  • Experienced (Non Manager)
