About QMUNITY

QMUNITY is BC’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community hub and exists to improve queer, trans, and Two-Spirit lives through services, connection and leadership. QMUNITY operates on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of Indigenous peoples across British Columbia, providing services on the lands and territories of over 200 First Nations. QMUNITY's main office is located on the land of the xʷməθkwəy̓ əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, at 1170 Bute Street in Davie Village.

QMUNITY is committed to employment equity and prioritizes applications from underrepresented groups including trans and non-binary folk, Indigenous persons, persons of colour, and persons with disabilities. QMUNITY values the experiences and skill sets gained through non-traditional employment, including unpaid work experience, alternative or non-traditional education, community organizing and mutual aid.

About the Role

QMUNITY is seeking a senior leader to guide the organization through a critical period of growth and transition. The Lead, Transition & Change Management will oversee the planning and execution of QMUNITY’s move into a new facility while supporting the design and execution of the operational, staffing, and service delivery models required to sustain this growth.

Reporting to the Executive Director, this role functions as a senior, non-union leadership position and a key partner in executive decision-making. The successful candidate will bring structure to a complex, evolving environment, ensuring that work across teams, consultants, and leadership is aligned, coordinated, and moving forward.

Core Responsibilities

Transition Planning and Organizational Change Management

  • Lead the development of operational plans to support QMUNITY’s transition into a significantly larger facility; including, but not limited to defining and refining staffing structures, workflows, and service delivery models aligned with organizational growth
  • Develop and support budgets, resource planning, and operational projections for the new space
  • Integrate input from internal teams and external consultants and contractors to ensure that planning reflects best practices in accessibility and inclusive service delivery
  • Lead or support special projects related to the new building and organizational growth

Executive Support & Organizational Design

  • Act as a strategic partner to the Executive Director on transition-related priorities
  • Lead change management efforts to support staff and leadership through organizational growth
  • Facilitate engagement processes to gather input, build alignment, and support adoption of new ways of working; synthesize inputs from staff, consultants, and external advisors into clear recommendations for decision-making
  • Identify operational and cultural impacts of growth and support leadership in addressing them
  • Integrate labour considerations into operational planning, ensuring alignment with the Collective Agreement and supporting future collective bargaining readiness.
  • Lead and coordinate the work of external advisors and consultants, including those supporting Indigeneity, accessibility, and labour considerations, ensuring their input is integrated into organizational planning and decision-making
  • Support fundraising efforts by contributing operational insight, planning assumptions, and project updates to inform funding proposals, donor engagement, and campaign strategy
  • Ensure alignment and coordination across internal teams and external partners

Move Planning and Implementation

  • Lead and coordinate all aspects of the physical move into the new building
  • Develop and manage detailed timelines, workplans, and readiness plans across departments
  • Coordinate vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition, including oversight of key external contracts (including art curator, developer, etc)
  • Support and participate in internal and external committees related to the new building, ensuring alignment between planning, decision-making, and implementation.
  • Support the recruitment and onboarding of new staff roles required to operationalize the new facility, in collaboration with leadership
  • Identify risks and troubleshoot challenges to maintain momentum and readiness

Ideal Qualifications

  • 5 to 8+ years of senior experience in operations, strategy, HR and/or complex project management
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale, multi-stakeholder initiatives or organizational transitions
  • Strong understanding of nonprofit organizations, including culture, governance, and operational realities
  • Experience working with and managing external consultants and advisors
  • Experience designing or evolving operational models, teams, or service delivery approaches
  • Strong financial and planning acumen, including budgeting and resource allocation
  • Proven ability to work closely with executive leadership and support strategic decision-making
