ABOUT THE ROLE

The Broadbent Institute is seeking an experienced and organized Training Coordinator to help lead the delivery of training programs and sessions. As a leading non-profit organization committed to supporting the labour movement, grassroots and progressive organizing, our training programs are designed to equip individuals with the skills, knowledge, and networks needed to advance social change in their communities across Canada. The successful candidate will play an important role in expanding the impact of our programs and providing participants with opportunities to deepen their skills and engage with leading voices in the progressive movement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Senior Director of Strategy and Operations, the Training Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the planning, execution, and delivery of training programs that expand the Institute’s impact and reach. This includes managing timelines, supporting curriculum development, overseeing communications materials, liaising with facilitators, and coordinating logistics in collaboration with internal staff, contractors, and external partners. This position works closely and collaboratively with the Trainings and Events Coordinator.

Training:

  • Collaborating with Broadbent staff, partners, and stakeholders to coordinate the design and delivery of training curricula that align with the Broadbent Principles and expand the Institute’s reach and impact
  • Assisting in identifying and maintaining relationships with potential partner organizations, networks, and audiences for training expansion
  • Responding to requests for the Institute to lead training sessions in collaboration with partners and stakeholders.
  • Developing and maintaining detailed project plans and timelines for each training initiative
  • Coordinating participant registration processes, communications, and follow-up
  • Coordinating with relevant departments to develop promotional and informational materials about training
  • Drafting training briefs, participant materials, evaluation tools, and post-training summaries
  • Tracking outcomes and compiling reporting on participation, feedback, and impact
  • Coordinating contracts and invoicing related to external trainers and consultants.
  • Maintaining organized documentation of training materials, templates, contracts, and reports
  • Assisting in developing annual training plans and impact reports.
  • Other duties as required to support the successful delivery and growth of the Institute’s training portfolio.

Emerging Leaders Program:

  • Supporting the Training and Events Coordinator as required in the delivery of the Emerging Leaders Program

Progress Summit:

  • Assisting with the planning and execution of training sessions delivered as part of the Progress Summit
  • Working collaboratively with partners, staff and Summit contractors to ensure training spaces, AV, accessibility needs, and materials are properly organized.
  • Serving as the point person for facilitators and partners regarding session logistics, travel, and honoraria (where applicable).
  • Supporting on-site delivery of training sessions, including run-of-show documents, staff and volunteer coordination where required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Commitment to the Broadbent Institute’s Principles;
  • Minimum 3 years experience in an organizing and/or training program delivery role
  • Experience in event delivery required, event management an asset
  • An understanding of the strategic role of training in progressive leadership building, as used by the labour movement, community organizations, the environmental movement, the anti-racist movement, and or other social movements a significant asset
  • Experience in building or maintaining relationships with a range of stakeholders;
  • Strong communication skills - oral and written
  • Proven ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellence in execution and follow through
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in planning; problem-solving; and strategic thinking;
  • Issue or electoral campaign experience an asset
  • Project management experience an asset
  • Bilingualism is a major asset

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

This is a full-time unionized position governed by a collective agreement between the Broadbent Institute and UFCW 1006-A. Most of the Institute’s operations are conducted in English. Our offices are located in Ottawa and Toronto although remote work is possible and requires working from home.

The starting salary of this position is $56,000 - $63,000 annually. Daytime hours of work with expectation of evening work during key events. Ability to travel and attend early morning and/or evening meetings required.
