TRAINER & CONSULTANT (Senior Social Worker/Clinician)

Part-Time Position (21.75 hours per week)

Hourly Salary Range: $ 41.06 – 45.34
LOCATION: The George Hull Centre for Children and Families, Etobicoke, Ontario
We are looking for a Trainer and Consultant with extensive knowledge and experience in assessing and treating trauma and attachment difficulties in children and youth to join the Centre’s Institute of Childhood Trauma and Attachment. The role will involve developing and implementing training and consultation for a variety of audiences on behalf of the Institute.
This position requires a highly skilled and passionate clinician with proven ability to engage adult learners in developing clinical and practical skills in the area of trauma-informed and responsive care. Successful applicants will have strong interpersonal skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to manage several projects independently, as well as a commitment to collaborative teamwork and shared leadership. A minimum of five years of training experience that includes teaching, training, mentoring, program review and curriculum development; facilitation of professional learning and reflective inquiry is required. Excellent written and oral language proficiency is required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Social Work or Psychology with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in children’s mental health
- A minimum of 5 years of training experience (teaching, training, development of curricula, etc.)
- Certification with the Ontario College of Social Workers or Psychologists or Equivalent
- Excellent clinical skills in trauma assessment, formulation, and treatment
- Extensive knowledge and experience in family therapy, systems theory, group work theory, child development, and trauma informed practice
- Expertise in evidence-based clinical interventions for children and families such as TF-CBT, EMDR, Sensory Motor trauma approaches, and other trauma-informed practices, and Attachment and Relational therapies such as Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy.
- Knowledge of various systems serving children and youth
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, presentation, and collaboration skills • Excellent administrative and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Sound judgment, sensitivity, flexibility and initiative for engaging and working with a variety of professionals
- Ability to work independently and as a member of the multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to ending anti-Black racism and to ongoing learning and practice in antioppression
- Keyboarding skills and working knowledge of relevant software is required (e.g. Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
- Experience working remotely, including delivering training on virtual platforms such as Zoom and Teams
- Knowledge of relevant legislation pertaining to children’s mental health
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – INSTITUTE OF CHILDHOOD TRAUMA AND ATTACHMENT
- To develop and deliver trauma informed training and consultation to a variety of professionals in child and youth serving sectors
- To develop and manualize evidence informed curricula for various trainings and consultations
- To keep abreast of research evidence related to trauma and trauma responsive practice in clinical and other practice settings
- To provide professional expertise and act as resource to the Centre and its staff in the area of trauma and attachment
- To participate in promotional activities and conferences on behalf of the Institute as needed
- To contribute to policy, research, and quality improvement initiatives, within the Institute and across programs
- To work collaboratively with other trainers, and fee for service trainers as part of the training team
- To attend bi-weekly Institute Team Meetings and regular supervision meetings with the Training Manager
