Role Overview
The Project Manager (with Software Knowledge) will oversee planning, reporting, and execution of projects. This role requires not only traditional project management skills but also technical literacy to design reporting dashboards, interpret performance metrics, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Oversight & Planning
- Define reporting frameworks, including what, when, and to whom updates are provided.
- Set KPIs and metrics to monitor progress, quality, budget, and timelines.
Status Reporting
- Deliver weekly/monthly progress reports outlining completed tasks, blockers, and upcoming milestones.
- Conduct sprint reviews and retrospectives, tracking velocity and outcomes.
- Build executive dashboards and visual summaries using tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Power BI.
Budget & Resource Reporting
- Track actual vs. projected costs and report variances.
- Monitor resource utilization and recommend adjustments.
Risk & Issue Reporting
- Maintain and update risk registers with mitigation strategies.
- Escalate unresolved issues and highlight impact on scope, budget, or timeline.
Performance & Quality Reporting
- Track code quality metrics such as test coverage, defect rates, and technical debt.
- Monitor team performance, morale, and capacity planning
Documentation & Audit Trail
- Maintain project artifacts including reports, meeting minutes, and change requests.
- Provide compliance reporting and documentation for audits when necessary.
Stakeholder Communication
- Tailor reports for different audiences (technical vs. executive).
- Present findings in steering committees, town halls, or leadership meetings.
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 3–5 years in project management, preferably with exposure to software development or tech-driven projects.
- Strong understanding of reporting tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Power BI, or similar).
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies (scrum, sprint planning, retrospectives).
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
- Knowledge of budget tracking and resource allocation.
- Bonus: Background in software engineering, QA, or business analysis.
