A Place Where Possibility Takes the Reins

At TEAD, we believe in what becomes possible when people, horses and community come together. Since 1978, we have created a safe, inclusive and nurturing place where children, youth and adults with disabilities can build strength, confidence, independence, connection and joy through therapeutic riding and equine-assisted programming.

Today, more than 120 riders are supported through our therapeutic riding program, alongside a growing mix of unmounted, clinical, wellness, learning and integrated camp experiences. Our work is powered by nationally certified instructors, skilled staff, a remarkable herd of therapy horses and a deeply committed volunteer community.

Our 92 acre farm in Mount Hope is more than a facility. It is a place of belonging—where progress can look like a stronger core, a new friendship, a moment of calm, a first independent movement, a burst of confidence, or simply the freedom to experience the world differently.

The Opportunity

We are inviting thoughtful, engaged and community-minded leaders to join TEAD’s Board of Directors at an important moment in our story. This is an opportunity to bring your experience, perspective and networks to a charitable organization with deep roots, meaningful impact and ambitious plans for the future.

As a Director, you will help steward TEAD’s mission, strengthen our long-term sustainability and contribute to the strategic decisions that allow us to serve more people, deepen our impact and ensure this extraordinary place remains strong for generations to come.

You do not need to be an equestrian to make a difference here. You do need to believe in inclusive communities, strong governance, thoughtful leadership and the power of mission-driven organizations to change lives.

Our Focus: Building the Next Chapter

As we look toward our next 50 years, our Board is focused on translating strategy into sustainable, measurable impact.

At a high level, our priorities include:

• Expanding and strengthening high-quality, inclusive therapeutic and equine-assisted programs in response to evolving community needs.
• Building organizational and financial sustainability so TEAD can deliver impact for the long term.
• Strengthening philanthropy, partnerships and community relationships that make our mission possible. Investing in the people, horses, property and infrastructure required to deliver safe, exceptional experiences.
• Growing awareness of TEAD and the breadth of ways equine-assisted programming can support physical, cognitive, emotional and social well-being.
• Continuing to advance strong governance, accountability, collaboration and mission-aligned decision-making.

What You’ll Contribute

Board service at TEAD is active, strategic and collaborative. We are looking for Directors who are ready to participate—not simply observe.

You will have the opportunity to:

• Provide strategic oversight and sound governance while keeping TEAD’s mission and participants at the centre of decisions.
• Bring your professional expertise, lived experience, community perspective and curiosity to Board and committee discussions.
• Act as an ambassador for TEAD, helping build awareness, relationships and opportunities across the community.
• Support resource development and philanthropy by opening doors, strengthening connections and championing the case for investment in TEAD.
• Contribute to a healthy, engaged Board culture grounded in integrity, respect, collaboration and accountability.
• Attend and support key TEAD events, celebrations and moments of community connection throughout the year.

The Experience We’re Looking For

We welcome candidates with a range of professional backgrounds, lived experiences and perspectives.

For this recruitment cycle, we are particularly interested in people who can strengthen our Board in one or more of these areas:

• Healthcare / Therapeutic services

• Veterinary care

• Equine knowledge

• Marketing, communications and digital engagement

• Information technology and cyber security

• Advocacy, government relations, community engagement or partnership development

• Corporate networks and strategic partnerships

• Business strategy, operational growth and excellence

Previous Board experience is welcome, but it is not the only path to meaningful Board service. Just as important as your résumé is how you show up: prepared, curious, collaborative, mission-focused and willing to contribute your time, judgment and voice.

As we look toward our next 50 years, we are seeking Directors who can bring their expertise, perspectives and networks to help strengthen TEAD's governance, sustainability and community impact.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in healthcare and therapeutic services, veterinary care, equine knowledge, marketing and communications, information technology and cybersecurity, advocacy and government relations, corporate networks and strategic partnerships, and business strategy and operational growth.

Directors are active participants in TEAD's governance and strategic direction and serve as ambassadors for the organization. This includes helping build relationships, create opportunities, open doors and strengthen the philanthropic and community connections that make our mission possible.

Previous Board experience is welcome, but not required. We value candidates who are prepared, curious, collaborative, mission-focused and ready to contribute their time, judgment and voice.

The commitment is approximately 8–10 hours per month, including monthly Board meetings, committee participation, preparation and key annual events. Directors serve three-year terms, with eligibility for up to two additional consecutive terms.
