Waterfront Montessori Children’s Centre (WMCC) is seeking a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) to join our team as Childcare Supervisor. WMCC is a licensed 24–32 space co-operative, non-profit preschool located on Toronto Island, offering a unique program that blends Montessori, play-based, and nature-based learning with extensive year-round outdoor time.This is an amazing opportunity for a RECE interested in adventure.

Children attending WMCC live both on Toronto Island and in the city. We do not have catchment restrictions and proudly serve a diverse community of families. All interested candidates are encouraged to apply; proximity to Toronto Island is not a requirement.

This is a full-time, permanent leadership role in an inspiring, nature-rich environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children and staff
• Ensure program compliance with provincial and municipal licensing requirements
• Integrate Montessori and nature-based curriculum
• Collaborate with the WMCC Parent Board on budgeting, licensing, staffing, and operations
• Oversee enrolment, waiting list, tours, and open houses
• Maintain policies, handbooks, and office operations
• Liaise with Toronto Public Health and community partners
• Work in collaboration with WMCC’s part-time administrator who supports bookkeeping, payroll, paperwork, and project management

Qualifications

• RECE in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
• Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in licensed childcare
• Knowledge of CCEYA, licensing, quality assurance, and CWELCC
• Experience with Montessori, play-based, and nature programming
• Strong communication and organizational skills; proficiency with Lillio
• Valid Vulnerable Sector Check
• Up-to-date immunizations
• CPR/First Aid Level C
• Legally entitled to work in Canada

Position Details

• Salary Range: $75,075 to $79,625
• Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.– 4.45p.m., with one hour paid lunch break
• In person, on-site work.
• Health & dental plan, vacation time and pay per Ontario ESA, paid sick days, paid ferry fee, WMCC is part of the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC)
