HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE OF CANCER CARE IN CANADA

The Canadian Cancer Society works tirelessly to save and improve lives. We raise funds to fuel the brightest minds in cancer research. We provide a compassionate support system for all those affected by all type of cancer, across Canada. Together with patients, supporters, donors and volunteers, we work to create a healthier future for everyone. Because to take on cancer, it takes all of us. It takes a society.

MAKING AN IMPACT

The Canadian Cancer Society’s Camp Goodtimes provides children and youth affected by cancer and their families with an unforgettable overnight summer camp experience in a medically supervised, safe and supportive environment. We have been committed to providing a camping experience for children affected by cancer since 1985.

The summer nurse works with the Medical Clinical Coordinator, volunteer medical team, and leadership team to ensure the safety of campers, and provides consistency of medical processes throughout the summer. You give medications, provide first aid, manage illnesses and follow procedures as required to care for the Camp population. The role requires you to support the general health and well-being of all campers, family members, volunteers, and staff on site. This role is ideal for a Registered Nurse (RN) who is passionate about pediatric care, camp nursing, and working in a collaborative, volunteer‑supported environment.

As a member of the leadership team, you will be working alongside the volunteer medical team at camp. The leadership team works together to build a positive camp culture and ensure the safety and overall well-being of camp participants. The volunteer medical team changes each week of camp and is made up of nurses, residents and physicians who provide medical support and safety for up to 70 Camp Goodtimes participants and 60 staff and volunteers.
