Position Overview
As a STEM Explore Coordinator, you will be responsible for delivering engaging STEM workshops to classrooms across Ontario. Working closely with and under the direction of the Senior Manager of Youth Engagement, you will use pre-developed materials and slideshows to conduct workshops, ensuring a consistent and high-quality learning experience for students. This role involves direct interaction with youth and educators, bringing the STEM Explore program to life in educational settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and deliver on the STEM Explore Program:
- Working with teachers to support STEM Workshops in classrooms in Ontario
- Working with STEM Expert Volunteers to support STEM Workshops in classrooms in Ontario
- Communicating with through email and updating teacher resource hub, etc
- Recruiting volunteers for classroom workshop
- Updating Vulnerable Sector Check Records
- Updating workshop content as needed
- Promoting events and summarizing feedback for reporting internally and to external funding agencies is required.
- Support with fostering and maintaining relationships with ALL key stakeholders involved in STEM Explore Workshops
- Suggest changes or additions to the STEM Workshops content and in person facilitation processes that will better fit the needs of the youth.
- Promote the SCWIST STEM Explore activities and updates to the SCWIST communications team for marketing purposes
- Participate in regular organizational meetings with SCWIST Staff. Participate in Youth Engagement meetings as instructed by management
- Any other tasks as required, as deemed necessary by SCWIST to support the organization’s objectives and operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education & Experience: A bachelor's degree in a STEM field, education, or a related discipline. Experience in program coordination, project management, or a similar role is essential. Prior experience working with youth, teachers, and volunteers is a significant asset.
- STEM Knowledge: A solid understanding of various STEM topics and the ability to explain complex concepts in an accessible way to a youth audience.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are crucial for liaising with teachers, volunteers, and internal teams. The ability to build and maintain professional relationships with all key stakeholders is a must.
- Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines. Strong organizational skills are needed for scheduling workshops, updating records, and handling logistics.
- Tech Savviness: Proficiency with productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace) and a strong ability to use and update online platforms and databases.
- Problem-Solving Skills: The capacity to identify issues, suggest improvements, and adapt workshop content and processes to better meet the needs of youth and stakeholders.
- Independent Work & Team Collaboration: The ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also being a collaborative and active participant in team meetings and organizational discussions.
- Commitment to Safety: Must be willing to undergo and maintain a Vulnerable Sector Check to ensure the safety of youth participants.

- Schedule: Part-Time Employment, 21 hours per week
- Salary Range: $25-$30.50/ hour
