If you excel at building relationship, navigating the Government of Ontario, and designing and implementing both public and corporate policy then join us as a Senior Manager of Policy & Government Relations (Volunteer). If you are a Lobbyist or Government relations expert working in consulting, or a non health industry such as mining who is looking to give back then you are exactly who we are looking for.

As the Senior Manager of Policy and Government Relations, you will work the Vice President and the Policy Advisor to advance the organizations funding agenda at Queens Park and align the organization to the policies, procedures, and approaches of the Ontario Public Service.

About the job

In this role, you will:

  • Build and lead a team of policy volunteers responsible for government relations, corporate policy, issues management and escalations.
  • Partnering with the Vice President of Legislative Affairs, Issues Management and Governance work to advance the organization’s agenda at Queens Park and efforts to obtain, increase and retain government transfer payment funding.
  • Oversee and champion improvements, efficiencies, and increased alignment to the Ontario Public Service within the organization.
  • Should the winning candidate wish: this role may obtain additional responsibilities in executive escalations, issues, risk and other corporate affairs functions.

Government Relations and Passion

You have:
• Relationships across Government, including at Queens Park, with Politician and Public Servant that allow you to understand government priorities and advance Valued Connections Healthcare's mandate of serving vulnerable ontarians

• A PASSION for Complex Care, and Healthcare as a whole – with a deep belief in the importance of modernizing the way the healthcare and social services system collaborate to meet complex needs

Not required: Experience in the Ontario Public Service, Queens Park or the Broader Public Sector is a plus.

Communication, Collaboration & Relationship Building

Bring strong communication and collaboration skills to convey complex ideas and build productive relationships.

• Ability to explain technical and analytical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences;
• Experience navigating diverse stakeholder environments and resolving complex data issues with clarity and diplomacy;
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams, municipalities, and external stakeholders.
