
Sponsorship Lead
Lean In Canada’s Vancouver Network is seeking a volunteer to lead our sponsorship portfolio. In this role, you will lead relationship-building efforts to secure both monetary and in-kind sponsorships, helping to expand our reach and strengthen our presence across the Lower Mainland.
The Sponsorship Lead reports directly to the Vice-President, who sets the sponsorship strategy through consultation with the Network President and other Vice-Presidents. The primary responsibility of this role is to execute the sponsorship plans previously developed through this leadership team.

Responsibilities
- Identify and cultivate new sponsors by conducting strategic research, and reach out to local corporations, securing support for Lean In Vancouver’s ongoing events and programs.
- Maintain communication with external stakeholders to provide updates on activities and gather feedback for future collaboration. Proactively lead timely follow-ups to keep the momentum.
- Lead the monitoring and reporting of sponsorship activities and outcomes, maintaining the sponsorship tracker by promptly logging key interactions and planning future activities. Provide succinct monthly email summary updates to the Vice-President for the internal debrief with senior leadership, including the Network President.
- Ensure sponsorship activities align with broader organizational goals at Lean In Vancouver through consultation and collaboration with other team leads, while also executing on sponsorship priorities set at the national board level.
- Given that this position is external-facing, the incumbent will be responsible for upholding Lean In Vancouver’s reputation. In situations where it is challenging to make a judgment call, consultation with the Vice-Presidents would be required before next steps.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Passionate about community engagement, relationship building, and comfortable with cold-calling.
- Self-starter with a proven track record to independently manage various ongoing projects. Experience in using Gantt Charts is a bonus.
- Proven ability to follow through on commitments and execute plans on schedule, delivering high-quality results with consistency.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent information management skills
- Detail-oriented and being able to incorporate feedback

Time Commitment
- Overall time commitment: Approximately 3-4 hours per week on average. This includes the following ongoing project work, meetings, and event participation. Volunteer hours may vary throughout the year depending on project demands and event schedules.
- Monthly 60-min virtual Vancouver team meeting: It is required for the incumbent to attend at least three monthly meetings in the first six months.
- Bi-monthly virtual 1:1 meeting (usually 30 mins) with the Vice-President: To discuss sponsorship updates, priorities, and next steps.
- In-person team meetings: These strategy meetings are typically hosted in downtown Vancouver. Each session is over 2 hours followed by a social. Sometimes the session may only take place once per year.
- Quarterly 60-min virtual sponsorship committee meetings: These meetings typically include the board director and Sponsorship Leads from Toronto, Calgary, Ottawa, and Edmonton.
- Network in-person marquee events: Approximately two receptions per year, each lasting about 2-3 hours. Given the Sponsorship Lead’s significant engagement with external stakeholders, attendance is encouraged when possible.
- Smaller-scale events hosted in downtown corporate offices: While attendance is optional, we encourage the Sponsorship Lead to participate to build relationships and deepen engagement with key contacts.
- Team socials: Usually twice per year; optional but encouraged when schedules allow.
