
Specialist, Engagement
Position Overview
The Specialist, Engagement at Efficiency Canada works alongside our engagement, research and communications teams to deliver impactful programming to engage our core audience in advancing policy and sector priorities. The Specialist will bring sector knowledge alongside strong event design and facilitation skills to deliver impactful and inspiring events, including: webinars, workshops, conference activities, and other events.The position will also oversee the delivery and facilitation of our various sector networks and communities of practice. The position is a core role on Efficiency Canada’s Engagement team, contributing to an organizational strategy to build and deepen our constituency of engaged practitioners advancing energy efficiency goals across the country.
Responsibilities
Webinars and Promotional Events
- Lead the planning and delivery of Efficiency Canada's DiscoverEE webinar series, including developing the annual calendar, securing and preparing speakers, and hosting sessions.
- Coordinate and support additional online events aligned with Efficiency Canada’s policy goals and campaign priorities, ensuring content relevance and audience engagement.
- Lead Efficiency Canada’s involvement in days of action, like Energy Efficiency Day, coordinating activities and events to coincide with promotional days.
Conferences, Workshops and Events
- Lead the strategic planning, programming, and execution of the Canada Home Energy Justice Conference, including partnership development, speaker recruitment, bilingual facilitation, and post-event evaluation.
- Organize and host workshops, training and special events that advance Efficiency Canada’s knowledge mobilization and research objectives.
- Coordinate and oversee Efficiency Canada’s presence at conferences and events, including managing promotional booths, preparing materials, and engaging with attendees to build brand awareness and grow the network.
- Manage event logistics and develop tailored content to align with specific campaign goals, stakeholder needs, and accessibility best practices.
Network Engagements and Communities of Practice
- Lead the design, coordination and delivery for peer learning networks and communities of practice, fostering knowledge exchange, collaboration, and alignment with Efficiency Canada’s strategic priorities.
- Strengthen engagement across the wider Efficiency Canada network by creating meaningful opportunities for participation (including but not limited to involvement in networks, communities of practice, workshops, webinars and other events).
- Support the development of emerging leaders helping to build a distributed and empowered base of local advocates connected to national priorities.
Engagement Campaigns and Contacts Management
- Support Efficiency Canada campaign activities as able.
- Uphold strong practices in contacts management, list building and supporter communications.
Qualifications
- 5-years experience in developing and implementing engagement events, including: webinars, workshops and conference activities.
- Familiarity with the Canadian energy efficiency landscape.
- Excellent communication skills, including strong facilitation skills and proven ability to design and deliver high caliber adult education events.
- Proficiency in digital engagement tools (e.g. CRM systems, mass email platforms) and a commitment to data-informed decision-making.
- Strong project management skills and ability to organize team-based work to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with online collaboration tools such as Google Workspace, MS Office, Slack, Asana, Nationbuilder, Zoom.
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant program (public policy, education, energy and environment, non-profit leadership) or equivalent life experiences.
- Ability to work independently as part of a remote team.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is a strong asset.
Location
This position operates remotely. Permanent residency in Ontario is preferred.
Reporting Structure
- The Specialist, Engagement reports to the Director, Engagement.
Compensation
- $75,000 - $80,000 annual salary
