Job Title: Specialist, Development and Fundraising
Reports to: Managing Director
Location: Remote, some in-person and travel may be required
Employment Type: Part-time (0.6 x FTE, 22.5 hrs or 3 days/week, permanent)
Compensation Range: $43,500-$48,000 CAD annually (0.6 FTE, based on a full-time equivalent of $72,500-$80,000 CAD), commensurate with experience. Eligible for benefits after probation period.

About the Role

The Development and Fundraising Specialist is responsible for building and strengthening the organization’s fundraising pipeline and funder relationships. This role leads donor cultivation and stewardship, designs and implements fundraising strategies, and helps develop and strengthen relationships with partners across sectors to advance the organization’s mission. The Specialist works closely with the CEO and Managing Director to secure diverse and sustainable resources, while ensuring alignment with organizational values and impact goals.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising and Revenue Development - 75%

  • Support the CEO in the development and implementation of a multi-year revenue strategy and annual fundraising plan to grow revenue from corporate, foundation, and government sources.
  • Identify, research, and pursue new funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and major gifts.
  • Lead on the preparation of compelling funding proposals, grant applications, and donor reports.
  • Manage the development and fundraising process, including keeping track of proposal deadlines, managing inputs of key interest holders, and ensuring the CRM is kept up to date.
  • Support the CEO in the management of SI Canada’s relationships with our funders and donors, ensuring timely recognition, and contributing to positive engagement.

Funder Partnerships, Development and Management - 15%

  • Support the CEO and Managing Director in the development and maintenance of strategic partnerships with businesses, foundations, government agencies, and community organizations.
  • Occasionally, represent the organization at external meetings, conferences, and events to strengthen visibility and influence.

Team Collaboration - 10%

  • Work with the CEO to align fundraising and partnership strategies with the organization’s strategic priorities.
  • Work in collaboration with communications, sector, and practice leads in support of the development and delivery of engagement strategies to support fundraising goals.
  • Track and report on fundraising progress, providing quarterly updates to leadership and the Board.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in non-profit business development, fundraising, or partnership management, preferably in the social impact sector.
  • Demonstrated success in securing funding from multiple sources (e.g., grants, sponsorships, donors).
  • Strong relationship management skills and experience engaging with diverse funders and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to craft compelling proposals and presentations.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Comfort with donor databases, CRM systems (we use Zoho), and fundraising tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Canada’s philanthropic and/or innovation sector is required.
