Special Olympics Guelph Wellington is a dedicated organization within the civic and social organizations industry, committed to providing year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. We aim to provide continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

What you will do

• Assist the head coach in planning and conducting basketball training sessions.
• Support athletes during practices and competitions.
• Provide encouragement and feedback to athletes to enhance their skills and confidence.
• Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
• Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to organize events and activities.

What we are looking for

• Required: Passion for working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
• Required: Basic knowledge of basketball rules and techniques.
• Optional: Previous experience in coaching or volunteering in sports.
• Optional: First aid certification.
• Required: Patience and engaging interpersonal skills.
