REGISTERED SOCIAL WORKER EIGHT MONTH CONTRACT: CAD $15,000 LONDON ONTARIO (REMOTE/WORK FROM HOME) PART TIME: 10 – 15 HOURS PER MONTH STARTING SEPTEMBER 2, 2025 – APRIL 30, 2026 SUMMARY Wellspring London and Region has recently partnered with the Southwest Regional Cancer Program (SWRCP) - Indigenous Cancer Program (Ontario Health - Cancer Care Ontario) to explore how we can better serve Indigenous populations across our region. Wellspring’s geographical boundaries encompass ten First Nations communities:


• Muncey-Delaware First Nation
• Deshkan Ziibiing (Chippewas of the Thames First Nation)
• Oneida of the Thames First Nation
• Aamjiwnaang First Nation (Chippewas of Sarnia First Nation)
• Chippewas of Kettle and Stony Point First Nation
• Eelunaapeewi Lakeewiit (The Moravian Delaware Nation)
• Caldwell First Nation
• Bkejwanong (Walpole Island First Nation)
• Saugeen First Nation
• Neyaashiinigmiing (Chippewas of Nawash First Nation)

There are also urban Indigenous, Metis and Inuit peoples living within the Southwest region that will be included in this study. Our larger aim for this project is to better understand individual communities with regards to their cancer care experience and help identify gaps in services and supportive programming that may be a fit for future collaborations with Wellspring London and Region. Wellspring London and Region is a not-for-profit organization that supports people directly affected by a cancer diagnosis and their immediate caregivers, with no cost programs and services. We serve the Southwestern Ontario region and have office locations in London and Stratford. This position will be home-based and, in the office, as needed, with occasional travel to First Nations communities throughout Southwestern Ontario (estimated 4 – 6 visits throughout the 8 month contract). DESCRIPTION Wellspring London and Region provides no-cost programs, support services and resources in a warm and supportive gathering place (both virtually and in-person) for individuals living with cancer, and those who care for them. This position will require some travel to the First Nations communities listed, but it is mainly working from home with regular Zoom meetings. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Data Collection & Analysis


• Develop an eight-month workplan in consultation with Wellspring and SWRCP with the purpose of connecting with various First Nations communities to seek feedback on

cancer supports and services that currently exist and identify gaps in the healthcare system.


• Create culturally appropriate templates for information gathering and seek out opportunities to collect valuable data; surveys, group in-person interviews, wellness days, conferences, one on one meetings, Zoom interview.


• Develop contact lists to be shared with Wellspring and SWRCP for each of the ten First Nations communities to ensure future communications and follow up


• Work specifically with cancer survivors, caregivers and healthcare professionals from each of the First Nations communities to gather information required for research and future and compile this information into a final report by April 2026 (goal is for 40 – 50 interviews in total across 10 First Nations communities)


• Generate monthly reports as needed for analysis
• Provide information for social media and poster creations if deemed appropriate
• Help with ongoing evaluations and surveys
• Regular check-in meetings with Wellspring and SWRCP

Required Education / Experience


• University degree in Social Work required with a minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience.
• Current registration with the College of Social Work
• Clear written communication and excellent command of the English language, both

written and verbal are required
• Fluidity in Microsoft office 365 required
• Experience working with Indigenous communities is considered essential
• Experience working in oncology considered an asset
• Preference will be given to qualified candidates that identify as Indigenous and are

connected to one of the 10 First Nations communities highlighted in this project. Wellspring London and Region is an equal opportunity employer.
