Black Immigrants Thrive Coalition is an organization that supports Black immigrants through programs focused on job readiness, community engagement, education, and advocacy. We aim to enhance the well-being, empowerment, and sense of belonging of African Caribbean and Black communities.
About the Role:
We are seeking a Community Outreach and Engagement Intern to join Black Immigrants Thrive Coalition as part of our summer student placement opportunity. This hybrid role will provide experience in partnership outreach, community collaboration, and program support to strengthen relationships with organizations that serve Afro-Caribbean and Black immigrant communities.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Partnership Support: Assist in identifying, reaching out to, and engaging with potential partners, including community organizations, businesses, and service providers, to explore collaboration opportunities.
Relationship Management: Support in maintaining and strengthening existing partnerships by supporting communication efforts, tracking engagement, and coordinating follow-ups.
Event Coordination: Support in organizing collaborative community events, networking sessions, and workshops designed to enhance services for Black immigrants.
Program Enhancement: Work with staff to integrate partnership-driven initiatives into existing programs that focus on career readiness, empowerment, and social integration.
Outreach & Engagement: Assist in outreach efforts to connect with community partners, assess mutual goals, and raise awareness about available resources and joint initiatives.
Documentation & Reporting: Track partnership outcomes, compile engagement reports, and contribute to evaluating collaboration effectiveness.
Support Workshops: Collaborate with staff to facilitate workshops on topics such as career readiness, cultural adaptation, and building confidence.
Documentation & Feedback: Track program outcomes, gather participant feedback, and contribute to program evaluation and improvement efforts.
Networking & Collaboration: Engage with community partners and stakeholders to enhance service delivery and foster collaborative relationships.
Skills and Qualifications:
Currently enrolled as a student in a relevant field (e.g Social Work, Health Promotion, Community Education, etc.).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
An interest in social justice, community support, and advocacy.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently as needed.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Cultural awareness, empathy, and the ability to engage with diverse populations.
Soft Skills:
Adaptability, open-mindedness, and a proactive work approach.
Patience and sensitivity in working with marginalized groups.
Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
Enthusiasm for making a positive impact in the community.
