
Social Media Volunteer
Common Compass is an Ontario-based registered charity. We are on a mission to empower youth, their schools and communities by strengthening social-emotional well-being and mental health through evidence-informed programs and fostering systemic change.
We envision a future where every young person reaches their own potential to transform their schools and communities into places that promote belonging, inclusion, and positive mental health for all. Over the last 10 years we have worked across 8 school boards and with more than 12,000 students, parents and educators.

The Candidate
You believe that social-emotional well-being is crucial to empower students to not only be academically successful, but become the leaders of tomorrow. You know that schools have infinite possibilities to support young people in the development of social-emotional well-being through structural, staff, parent and direct student interventions.
We are looking for folks that are available a couple of hours per week as we cater to the availability of the individual volunteer.

Role: Marketing and Social Media Volunteer-Remote
As a Marketing and Social Media Volunteer, your primary role is to assist in…
- Ideating social media post ideas for various platforms
- Crafting social media posts and content that align with our mission and values, as well as our set design scheme
- Posting on our various social media platforms
- Monitor social media platforms
- Supporting the creation, execution and monitoring of our e-newsletter
Hours/ Location
This volunteer position is entirely remote. The applicant must be able to commit to volunteering:
- 3-5 hours per week, based on volunteer availability and organizational needs
- Minimum 3 month commitment
- Orientation will be completed remotely M-F between 9am and 5pm.
- Volunteering timing is largely flexible, based on the availability of volunteers, though a minimum of 60 minutes per week must be completed M-F between 9-5pm to stay connected with the staff team.
- Volunteer hours can be counted toward the Ontario Secondary School Diploma requirement
Ingredients for Success:
- Comfort/ experience in working across social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and X (formerly Twitter)
- Comfort/ experience in working with Canva
- Experience in creating and following a content calendar is an asset
- Experience working with an email marketing platform, such as Mailchimp, is an asset
