Volunteer Position: Social Media Strategist, Hemophilia Saskatchewan Board of Directors

About Us:
Hemophilia Saskatchewan (HSK) is a non-profit organization which aims to improve the health and quality of life of all people with inherited bleeding disorders and, ultimately, to find a cure. HSK offers education, advocacy for care, treatment, and research, and support to all people with inherited bleeding disorders. We are seeking a dedicated and organized individual with a passion for our mission to join our Board of Directors to oversee our Social Media presence. This is a vital volunteer role, responsible for overseeing the social presence and networking of our organization. Applicants do not need to have a bleeding disorder to be on the board.

Role and Responsibilities:
The Social Media Strategist will develop and implement strategic communications to boost organizational awareness, member engagement, and event promotion of the organization, including:

  • Strategy Development: Create, implement, and manage an ongoing social media strategy that aligns with board goals.
  • Content Creation & Scheduling: Plan, produce, and curate engaging, relevant content (text, photo, video) for platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, and tri-annual newsletter and annual bulletin.
  • Community Management: Monitor mentions, respond to messages and comments promptly, and engage with followers to build a strong community.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Track key performance metrics (reach, engagement) to produce regular reports.
  • Event Promotion: Create digital campaigns to promote events, and cover events live to maximize visibility.
  • Collaboration: Work with other board members to support marketing, fundraising, or membership initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications:
We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about making a positive change in the community and possesses some or all of the following:

  • Platform Expertise: Knowledge of major social platforms and trends (e.g., Facebook, Instagram Reels).
  • Communication Skills: Strong copywriting and content creation skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Office and design tools (Canva).
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to turn data-driven insights into actionable plans.

Time Commitment:
This is a working board position, and we anticipate a commitment of approximately 4 hours per month. This includes attending board meetings and fundraising committee meetings, independent work between meetings, and organizational activities. In addition, active, consistent posting, potentially requiring evening or weekend work.

Location: Remote in Saskatchewan

How to Apply:
If you are interested in leveraging your communication and networking expertise to support our mission, please send a cover letter and resume outlining your relevant experience to hemosask@gmail.com.

Applicants will receive an email throughout the process about their status up to two weeks from the posting close date. A criminal record is required but does not need to be clean.
