Description:
Terra Elysium is a Toronto-based not-for-profit organization delivering community-centred, arts- and culture-driven environmental programming in Neighbourhood Improvement Areas (NIAs). We are seeking a creative and digitally savvy Social Media Specialist to support our online presence and community engagement efforts.
This role works closely with the Executive Director and Marketing Manager to plan, create, and manage social media content that reflects Terra Elysium’s values, programs, and neighbourhood-based work. The Social Media Specialist plays a key role in increasing visibility, engagement, and accessibility by sharing stories, events, and impact through clear, thoughtful, and visually engaging content.
Responsibilities:
Content Creation & Scheduling
- Create and schedule social media content across platforms (e.g. Instagram, LinkedIn, and others as needed).
- Adapt photos, short videos, graphics, and written content for platform-specific use.
Community-Focused Storytelling
- Support storytelling that centres youth voices, local communities, and neighbourhood-based initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal team members to translate program activities into accessible and engaging posts.
Campaign & Event Promotion
- Promote events, workshops, and campaigns through coordinated social media content.
- Support live or near-live posting during key events when required.
Brand & Consistency
- Ensure brand consistency in tone, visuals, and messaging across all social platforms.
- Support the development and maintenance of Terra Elysium’s social media guidelines.
Collaboration & Coordination
- Work closely with the Executive Director and Marketing Manager to align content with broader communications and marketing priorities.
- Coordinate with team members to gather content, updates, and visuals.
Analytics & Improvement
- Monitor basic engagement metrics and provide insights to support continuous improvement.
- Suggest ideas to increase reach, engagement, and community connection.
Qualifications:
- Availability for up to 15 hours per month
- Experience or strong interest in social media management, digital communications, or content creation.
- Strong written communication skills and an eye for clear, engaging visuals.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and scheduling tools.
- Organized, collaborative, and reliable, with attention to deadlines.
