The opportunity

We’re the first and only 24/7 e-mental health service in the country and a global leader in innovation for youth and their well-being.

We’re seeking a full-time, permanent Social Media Specialist to join our Brand, Storytelling & Communications team in a hybrid role (2–3 days in office per week) to help give more young people’s feelings a place to go. Reporting to the Social Media Manager, this role supports Kids Help Phone’s social media presence across all external and internal platforms—including both Kids Help Phone and Kids Help Phone Foundation channels.

The Specialist will focus on tactical execution, audience engagement, and day-to-day content delivery. This includes supporting social media campaigns, managing community interactions, and contributing to video production for key external strategies such as Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.

The responsibilities

  • Manage editorial content calendars across Kids Help Phone, Cam’s Kids, and GOOD2TALK social media channels to ensure timely, engaging content.
  • Create and publish platform-specific content (copy, graphics, video) aligned with brand guidelines.
  • Support video production for social campaigns, including filming, editing, and producing content.
  • Partner with People & Culture to support internal communications on Slack and the Intranet.
  • Lead daily community management, including moderating comments and responding to messages to foster positive interactions.
  • Incorporate content from internal teams into social media plans, ensuring alignment with strategy and brand voice.
  • Identify and escalate sensitive issues or risks to the Social Media Manager.
  • Collect and organize performance data for regular reporting and insights.
  • Ensure all content adheres to Kids Help Phone’s brand guidelines and style standards.
  • Assist in developing creative assets for paid and organic campaigns.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support social media initiatives.
  • Manage the social content calendar and route materials requiring clinical review or graphic design support.
  • Provide support to organizational teams with content needs across departments.
  • Occasionally assist with recording key internal meetings, town halls, press conferences, and live events

The qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in social media content creation and community management, or a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft engaging, on-brand content tailored to various platforms.
  • Proficiency with major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, Snapchat) and an understanding of their best practices.
  • Graphic design and video editing experience using tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
  • Demonstrated experience producing and editing video content for social media campaigns and events.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams and departments.
  • Passion for youth mental health and a solid understanding of how to engage youth and young adult audiences.
