Position Overview

The Social Media Marketing – Engagement & Strategy Volunteer/Intern supports the organization’s online growth by focusing on audience engagement, content strategy, and digital outreach. This role plays a key part in building an active online community, increasing visibility, and ensuring that social media efforts align with organizational goals.

Working closely with the content creation team, this role focuses on how content performs, how audiences interact, and how to improve reach and engagement through thoughtful planning and strategy.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
  • Ability to engage with audiences through comments, messages, and interactions
  • Basic understanding of content strategy and audience targeting
  • Strong written communication skills (friendly, professional tone)
  • Ability to analyze simple performance metrics (likes, reach, engagement)
  • Organized and able to manage multiple platforms consistently

Preferred Qualifications (Assets)

  • Experience managing or growing social media accounts
  • Familiarity with analytics tools (Instagram Insights, Meta Business Suite)
  • Knowledge of hashtags, posting strategies, and timing
  • Experience with scheduling tools (e.g., Buffer, Hootsuite)
  • Understanding of community management and brand voice
  • Interest in marketing, communications, or digital strategy

Key Responsibilities (Context for Role Fit)

  • Respond to comments, messages, and audience interactions on time
  • Monitor engagement and suggest improvements to content strategy
  • Support the development of weekly/monthly content plans
  • Analyze performance metrics and provide simple reports or insights
  • Research trends, hashtags, and audience interests
  • Collaborate with content creators to improve reach and engagement
  • Help grow the online community and increase visibility
