Position Overview

The Social Media Marketing – Content Creation Volunteer/Intern supports the organization’s digital presence by creating engaging, informative, and visually appealing content across social media platforms. This role plays a key part in promoting programs, events, and community initiatives while helping build brand awareness and online engagement.

Working closely with the team, the volunteer will plan, design, and schedule content, capture moments from events, and help maintain a consistent and professional online presence aligned with the organization’s mission.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Strong creativity and eye for visual design
  • Basic content creation skills (graphics, captions, short videos)
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
  • Ability to write clear, engaging, and audience-friendly captions
  • Basic knowledge of Canva or similar design tools
  • Good organization and time management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow a content schedule

Preferred Qualifications (Assets)

  • Experience managing social media accounts (personal or professional)
  • Basic video editing skills (Reels, short-form content)
  • Understanding of social media trends and engagement strategies
  • Experience with content planning tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Buffer)
  • Photography or videography skills (asset)
  • Interest in marketing, communications, or digital media

Key Responsibilities (Context for Role Fit)

  • Create graphics, captions, and short videos for social media posts
  • Assist in planning and scheduling weekly content
  • Support promotion of programs, events, and campaigns
  • Capture photos/videos during events (if applicable)
  • Maintain brand consistency across posts
  • Monitor engagement and suggest content ideas

  • Organized and consistent in content delivery

Technical Skills (Helpful but not required)

  • Canva, CapCut, or similar tools
  • Instagram & Facebook content tools
  • Basic analytics understanding (views, engagement, reach)
  • Google Drive / Microsoft Teams for collaboration
