Volunteer Opportunity: Social Media Advisor
Organization: Hackergal
Location: Remote
Time Commitment: Approx. 6–8 hours upfront to review and advise on our strategy, then approx. 1 hour/week maintenance (up to December 2025)

Hackergal is a Canadian charity dedicated to transforming the STEAM industry by empowering girls and gender-diverse learners to become the innovators and leaders of tomorrow.
Hackergal’s vision is to inspire girls across Canada to explore the possibilities in coding. With women vastly underrepresented in the technology industry all over the world, Hackergal strives to inspire a new wave of Canadian female coders to bring equality to the booming industry and ultimately close the gender gap.
What You’ll Do
Hackergal is seeking a volunteer to review and provide expert advice on our current social media strategy. The advisor will assess our existing channels, content, and engagement tactics, and offer actionable recommendations to enhance our reach, clarity of messaging, and community engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Review Hackergal’s current social media presence and content and identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for maximal growth
- Provide concise advice with strategic recommendations (e.g., content themes, posting frequency, analytics monitoring, platform focus, timelines for implementation)
- Suggest tools or workflows to streamline social media efforts
- Recommend KPIs with a focus on sustainability
Desired Outcome:
- A clear, actionable social media improvement plan that aligns with Hackergal’s mission and overall strategy.
What You’ll Bring
- Passionate about equity, diversity, and the inclusion of girls* and gender-diverse learners in STEAM
- High level strategic social media strategy development and execution oversight
- Experience aligning social/digital efforts with organizational goals
- Experience in audience strategy, content planning, engagement, and analytics
