Unpaid Volunteer Position

Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sewing Volunteer to support our sewing program, which empowers participants through skill-building and creativity. The volunteer will assist in facilitating Basic and Advanced Sewing Programs, providing guidance, and helping participants enhance their sewing skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist instructors during sewing classes by supporting participants with hands-on learning.
  • Guide participants in using sewing machines, tools, and materials effectively and safely.
  • Help maintain a positive and engaging learning environment for all participants.
  • Provide one-on-one support to participants needing additional assistance.
  • Assist in setting up and organizing materials and equipment before and after classes.
  • Offer creative input for participant projects and activities.
  • Support graduation events by preparing displays or showcasing participant work.
  • Help with administrative tasks related to the sewing program, such as attendance tracking and inventory management.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in sewing techniques, including machine and hand sewing.
  • Experience working with sewing machines, patterns, and garment construction.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Patience and enthusiasm for teaching and empowering others.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Previous experience in teaching or volunteering is a plus.
