Position Title: Seniors Program Coordinator

Employment Status: Part-time contract position for Grey-Bruce resident, variable hours

Sheatre is an award-winning community-engaged professional arts organization with 40 years of experience in creating and presenting interactive, issue-oriented theatre and the arts in rural and small urban communities. Our creative and rigorous approach enables us to design, execute, and evaluate strategies that create meaningful—and measurable—change.
“Remembering Gladys Ryan” is a touring interactive theatre presentation supported by post-show talks. It will be created and performed by senior residents of Grey Bruce, Ontario. “Gladys” touches people, educates audiences on elder abuse, and empowers people to make changes in their communities and their lives.

Role Description:
As Seniors Program Coordinator you would be responsible for coordinating a team of volunteer seniors invested in the prevention of elder abuse. This position supports a theatre program, “Remembering Gladys Ryan”, that focuses on intimate partner violence.
Key Responsibilities include:
Team Management:
- Ensure a welcoming environment
- Provide for the safety of the volunteers,
- Adapt to accommodate the diverse needs and physical/cognitive limitations of the participants
- Recruit volunteers from community services to facilitate specific post show discussions with audiences
- Create and implement a final celebration
Logistics Management:
- Schedule and Coordinate senior participants for doing presentations, media interviews and other community opportunities
- Plan and Support travel experiences: Schedule and communicate participant volunteers’ travel, vehicle arrangements and driving pools
- Follow up with presenters to confirm scheduled bookings a week in advance of shows
- Nurture rela&onships with partners, agencies, groups, arts organizations, communities, schools, the media and other key community members
Data Management:
- Maintain records of activities, including show notes
- Manage databases, handle scheduling, and troubleshoot issues
- Participate in Project evaluation
- Create and submit a final report
Undertake other appropriate duties on behalf of the Company as may be assigned from time to time by the Artistic Director to be mutually agreed upon by both parties and as time permits within the number hours that the Contractor works.
Skills:
Comfortable and empathetic in discussing elder abuse, in particular intimate partner violence
Effective communications and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with a diverse, aging population
Ability to manage a team effectively
Strong multi-tasking, organizing and planning skills
Adept at working from home
Excellent writing and data handling skills
Confident working to deadline

Government Funding supports this position for someone over 50 years of age, residing Grey & Bruce Counties, Ontario.
Fee:
$23 / hour; funded by The Community Foundation Grey Bruce and government
