Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director, Marketing and Communications, the Senior Specialist, Program Marketing leads the marketing of key programs and resources in English and French to CERIC’s core audience of career and employment professionals across Canada, and to the wider interestholders who support their work. The role manages day-to-day marketing activity across CERIC projects, websites and publications, exercising independent judgement on tactics, timing and audience within agreed plans and budgets. The Senior Specialist develops and implements marketing plans for individual projects and programs, contributes to CERIC’s francophone engagement in Quebec and the rest of Canada, and acts as a senior bilingual writer and reviewer for the organization.

Core Responsibilities

Marketing

  • Develop and lead marketing plans for individual CERIC projects and programs, including Cannexus, Learning Hub, CareerWise/OrientAction, Canadian Journal of Career Development, Wileman Award and the Graduate Student Engagement Program, and contribute to the annual organizational Marketing Plan led by the Senior Director.
  • Set and manage tactics, timelines and budgets at the program level, including paid, free or contra advertising opportunities; interestholder communications; and content development.
  • Promote CERIC's project funding calls and support communications activities with project partners throughout project development; develop and execute dissemination strategies to market resulting publications, findings and other deliverables.
  • Develop and execute communications strategies to drive participation in CERIC surveys and to disseminate resulting findings.
  • Establish content direction and provide program context to the Specialist, Digital Marketing for email campaigns, website updates and social content, ensuring alignment with program marketing plans. Contribute program campaign content within the social strategy and channel standards set by that role.
  • Collaborate with the Specialist, Digital Marketing on campaign strategy and on the interpretation of website and social analytics.
  • Collaborate on deployment of the francophone engagement strategy, leading its marketing and communications components and recommending adjustments based on results, to build awareness and participation among French-speaking interestholders in Quebec and across Canada.
  • Lead program-level outreach that extends CERIC’s reach beyond the core professional audience to employers, policymakers and educators, in support of Cannexus, publications and project promotion, within the relationship direction set by the Senior Director.
  • Recommend and secure CERIC’s presence at external conferences; represent CERIC on-site at English and French-language events, conferences and tradeshows.
  • Co-ordinate outreach to supporting/collaborating partners and other organizations, disseminating promotional materials.
  • Brief and manage external suppliers as required, including designers, translators and advertising representatives, against budget and deadline.
  • Represent Marketing and Communications in project planning with program leads, advising on reach, timing and feasibility.

Communications

  • Ensure French-language consistency and quality across all CERIC content, applying established terminology and style standards.
  • Develop, write, edit and format bilingual external communications, including website content such as news updates and resource descriptions, supporting ongoing projects, publications and events.
  • Develop content for ads (print, digital) information brochures, presentations, correspondence, reports and media announcements.
  • Provide content and direction on the creation and use of infographics, video and other tools to support content dissemination.
  • Ensure brand architecture and standards are implemented in all collateral, digital content, publications, presentations and signage.
  • Act as a resource to colleagues across teams on marketing planning and bilingual content standards.
  • Lead the marketing activity that accompanies media campaigns for new resources, publications and programs; contribute pitch content, media lists and background materials to media relations activity led by the Senior Director.

Research

  • Conduct research on specific or potential CERIC career development audiences: analyze and update lists, directories and profiles as well as online and in-person outreach.
  • Identify and research prospective organizations and individuals within the priority audience segments set out in program marketing plans, to support outreach and engagement.
  • Research individuals, organizations, media outlets, publications and events for partnership development and project promotion.
  • Identify and compile contacts for CERIC events such as roadshows and Cannexus as well as event marketing plans.
  • Proactively review and maintain contact records, recommending or making updates, removals or revisions as needed to support ongoing database accuracy.

Other

  • Evaluate campaign performance and recommend changes to subsequent plans.
  • Make content updates to the CERIC website and its related websites, sharing this work with the Specialist, Digital Marketing as turnaround times and workload require.
  • Undertake short translations of English content into French and adapt and review new and existing translations.
  • Provide back-up coverage for monitoring and responding on CERIC’s social channels during absences or peak periods.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Working Conditions

This position is based in Ontario and works on a hybrid basis. The successful candidate must reside in Ontario and be able to travel to CERIC's Toronto office (2 St. Clair Ave E) for in-person work, meetings and events. Candidates within commuting distance of Toronto can expect a weekly in-person schedule; candidates based elsewhere in Ontario should expect periodic travel to Toronto.

Education and Experience

  • Degree or diploma in marketing, communications or public relations
  • Four to six years’ progressive experience in marketing or communications, including experience owning campaigns end to end
  • Experience in a non-profit, association or education environment an asset
  • Bilingual (English/French) mandatory, superior proficiency

Starting Salary Range (commensurate with experience): $70,000-$80,000
