About the Institute for Advancements in Mental Health (IAM)

The Institute for Advancements in Mental Health (IAM) is a provincial leader in mental health advocacy, education, and systems change.

IAM was founded more than 40 years ago as the Schizophrenia Society of Ontario, established to support individuals and families affected by schizophrenia and psychosis. In 2020, the organization evolved into IAM to reflect a broadened mandate—building on deep expertise in complex mental illness while expanding its reach, partnerships, and system level impact across Ontario.

Today, IAM works at the intersection of mental health support, advocacy, education, and systems change. Our work is built around people living with complex mental illness and those who support them, with an emphasis on continuity of care, practical supports, and thoughtful, evidence‑informed practice. We collaborate with healthcare, community, and academic partners to meet real needs in the community. IAM focuses on long‑term stability and engagement, not short episodes of care or narrowly defined interventions.

Guided by a vision of redesigning society for better mental health, IAM is committed to practical, human-centred solutions that respond to real needs and help people thrive wherever they are on their mental health journey. Our programs are delivered by a skilled and committed team of clinicians, staff, and volunteers who work closely together and take responsibility for the quality and consistency of what we provide.

How We Work at IAM Health

At IAM Health, how we work matters as much as what we do. We look for people who take ownership for outcomes, collaborate across roles, communicate directly and respectfully, and are comfortable addressing challenges early with solutions.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director, Programs & Impact, the Senior Mental Health Clinician serves as a Clinical Lead, providing advanced CBT‑informed clinical care alongside leadership in supervision, program oversight, and evaluation. The role delivers evidence‑based, trauma‑informed, and culturally responsive community‑based interventions to individuals, families, and caregivers experiencing psychosis and other complex or chronic mental health conditions.

This position plays a central role in the delivery, supervision, and continuous improvement of IAM’s clinical and educational programming, including Recovery in Action (RIA), Strengthening Families Together (SFT), education sessions, and other presentations. The Senior Mental Health Clinician ensures high‑quality clinical practice, consistency in service delivery, and alignment with organizational priorities across all programming.

The Senior Mental Health Clinician maintains an active caseload while providing structured clinical supervision and mentorship; contributing to program planning and outcome evaluation; supporting staff skill development; and assisting with reporting and data‑informed decision‑making. A defined portion of the role is dedicated to clinical supervision, quality assurance, and clinical risk oversight, ensuring predictable supervision, consistent documentation standards, and clear escalation pathways.
