The Senior Manager, Fund Development Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for the Fund Development Department, overseeing the fundraising CRM (Raiser’s Edge) and ensuring the accuracy of donor and financial data.

They lead the integration of new technologies that support best practices across fundraising operations and drives process improvements to enhance efficiency. They also oversee technical training and support the ongoing development of the Fund Development team.

This position has one direct report, the Manager of Annual Campaigns and Data Systems. Providing strategic direction for cross-channel fundraising initiatives and a multi-faceted approach that increases revenue, advances donor migration, and strengthens donor retention.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provides strategic direction and leadership in managing the Fund Development database and associated software, ensuring the Fund Development team has accurate, accessible data to make informed, data-driven decisions:
    • Evaluate Raiser’s Edge updates and provide leadership in team adoption of new functionality
    • Lead the development of strategic and tactical approaches to data integrity, providing clear direction to the Fund Development team
    • Provide leadership in identifying and assessing software solutions that support the Fund Development team’s fundraising objectives
  • Provides strategic guidance on leveraging donor data to enhance prospecting, cultivation, and stewardship, enabling the Fund Development team to strengthen donor relationships and maximize fundraising impact:
    • Collaborate with colleagues to identify target audiences for communications and data-driven outreach lists.
    • Collaborate in the development of new fundraising and donor stewardship campaigns
    • Support events throughout the full lifecycle to optimize data acquisition and analyze outcomes, delivering actionable insights and recommendations
  • Chairs the Data Governance Team, ensuring that all decisions related to database modifications, adoption of new software, or sunsetting of existing systems align with Fund Development business practices and support the long-term functionality and effectiveness of the Fund Development team.
    • Oversee the maintenance and ongoing accuracy of process library documentation
    • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and systems to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and privacy requirements
    • Provide leadership as the CRM subject matter expert, overseeing user access, permissions, and security protocols to safeguard system integrity
  • Designs and manages a comprehensive donor pipeline and internal prospect identification system, including dashboards and reports, to enable data-driven, strategic fundraising decisions.
    • Provide leadership in collaborating with the Fund Development team to implement systems that monitor donor engagement stages and identify lapsed donors
  • Monitors and responds to the Fund Development team’s needs for support and training, ensuring effective use of fundraising software.
    • Provide support and guidance to the Fund Development Database Specialist in their delivery of team support
    • Oversee coaching and support for new hires to ensure effective adoption and use of Fund Development software
    • Lead efforts to transition away from standalone spreadsheets in favor of collaborative, system-based solutions
    • Deliver individualized and group training sessions as needed
  • Responsible for providing direction, coaching, and career development support to one direct report (Manager, Annual Giving) to ensure professional growth and strong performance outcomes
  • Collaborates with Fund Development and Finance teams to create and manage timely, accurate reporting on donation revenue to support informed decision-making
  • Collaborates with Annual Giving and Marketing to develop strategic direction and tactical plans for targeted, timely communications based on donors’ communication preferences
  • Leads the Operations Team in quarterly and annual reviews of database hygiene, best practices, and new product updates. Provides direction and support in developing the team’s annual technology vision and goals, prioritizing adoption of new products and functionality to best support the Fund Development team and organizational growth
  • Provides support as needed for donation processing, tax receipt production, and maintenance of the gift coding system
  • Other duties as required

What you’ll need:

  • Advance knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and other fundraising platforms including Blackbaud Professional Certification
  • Advanced knowledge in creating, executing and managing queries, reports, imports, exports
  • Strong understanding of donor life cycles, fundraising, moves management
  • Strong understanding of CRA guidelines, gift processing, tax receipting and reconciliation
  • Strong understanding of excel
  • Knowledgeable on CASL, PCI and other privacy and data security regulations
  • Ability to leverage technology effectively to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and support the fund development team’s objectives
  • Ability to develop and document standard operating procedure (SOP’s), workflows and training manuals
  • Experience providing support and guidance to users on software applications, ensuring effective adoption and efficient use of tools.
  • Ability to manage projects with shifting priorities, ensuring timely delivery, alignment with business objectives, and effective collaboration across teams
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, actionable information for non-technical users, enabling informed decision-making and smooth project execution
  • Ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical teams by clearly articulating solutions, requirements, and project impacts
  • Skilled in building consensus across cross-functional teams with competing priorities to drive alignment and achieve organizational goals
  • Skilled in leading change management initiatives, effectively managing resistance and guiding teams through transitions to ensure adoption, engagement, and successful implementation of new technology driven processes
  • Demonstrated experience managing direct reports, including goal setting, behavioral coaching, performance management, and career development
  • Six to eight years relevant experience and education or life experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Psychology or Computer Science
  • A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.

Pay Rate: $94,553 annually
