Senior Human Resources Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

The Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced Senior Human Resources Manager to lead and oversee our HR function. This is a key leadership role reporting directly to the Executive Director, responsible for strategic and day-to-day HR operations across the organization. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with all employment legislation and the Collective Agreement while fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture. This role will lead labour relations, recruitment, policy development, performance management, and employee engagement. You’ll work closely with senior leadership and staff to support our dedicated team and help build organizational capacity in alignment with Red Door’s mission and values. Key responsibilities:


• Lead, plan, and evaluate all aspects of the Human Resources department
• Supervise and support the HR Coordinator
• Manage the full range of HR processes, including recruitment, policy development,

wage/salary changes, payroll reporting, and recordkeeping
• Ensure compliance with all employment legislation, health and safety regulations, and

Red Door policies
• Lead labour relations, including grievance resolution, contract negotiations, and

Collective Agreement interpretation
• Support annual staffing and budget planning with the senior leadership team
• Coordinate or deliver employee training and regulatory requirements
• Conduct workplace investigations and resolve conflicts and complaints


• Manage accommodation and return-to-work processes in accordance with Human Rights legislation


• Provide coaching and guidance to managers on performance management and employee development


• Consult with external legal counsel and HR service providers as required
• Ensure payroll compliance in partnership with Finance and senior leadership
• Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Qualifications


• Degree or diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, or a related field


• Certificate in Human Resources Management from an accredited institution


• CHRP or CHRL designation preferred; HRPA membership in good standing


• Minimum 5 years of experience in an HR generalist or leadership role


• Strong understanding of HR legislation, including ESA, Human Rights, AODA, OHSA, and Pay Equity


• Experience with HRIS (Humi), payroll systems, and employee file management


• Proven ability to lead HR initiatives in unionized settings


• Strong communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills


• High level of discretion, professionalism, and emotional intelligence


• Excellent computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)


• Strong people management skills and the ability to effectively manage and support staff.


• Strong verbal and written communication skills, who is sensitive to others, an active

listener and non-judgmental.


• Sound judgment and excellent problem-solving/crisis-management skills


• Good decision-making skills with the ability to motivate and direct others.


• Good conflict management and dispute resolution skills


• Flexibility to work changing 24x7 environment, deadlines and supporting organizational

needs


• Ability to learn on the job and apply new processes and procedures.
