The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for: 1) Detailed analytical reviews, analysis and reconciliations 2) Preparing and overseeing funder budgets and financial reports for City of Toronto, 3) Detailed analysis for quarterly budget projections and annual budget preparation; 4) audit preparation; 5) backup support to the Senior Manager of Finance; 6) other Finance administrative functions

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for overseeing, coordinating and preparing the financial components of budget submissions, quarterly and annual reports for all City funded programs (e.g. Bergamot Early Learning Centre, Davenport and 1st Stop Shelters, Housing Support, Housing Administration and Section 78).
- Reviews and reconciles tenant rent collections in the Acori system to ensure accurate and timely recording in the accounting system each month
- At Budget time, along with the Senior Manager of Finance, review programs budgets to ensure inter-program reconciliations and all salaries are properly accounted for the Association-wide annual audit.
- Reviews, analyzes and reconciles organization-wide balance sheet accounts (including payroll clearing account, suspense, fundraising clearing account, parent fee receivable, tenant rents receivable etc.) on a monthly basis.
- Reviews and reconciles Raisers Edge report to ensure fundraising revenue is properly and accurately recorded in the accounting system.
- Reconciles Alterna bank account on a monthly basis. Analyzes and problem-solves all account issues related to Housing, Property Services and December 6 Fund programs.
- Assists in preparing the financial components of other funder submissions and reports.
- Assists the Senior Manager of Finance and Director of Finance in Association-wide budget preparation and quarterly forecasts and helps to ensure that budget information is entered correctly in the accounting system.
- Assists with year-end closing, preparation of annual audit working papers and interacts with auditors.
- Prepares ad-hoc reports and analyses to support executive decision-making
- Liaises with Program Managers and Business Administrators to troubleshoot and problem solve program specific information and issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
- In-depth knowledge of an academic discipline normally acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree (e.g. Accounting or Business Administration) or a Level 3 CPA enrolment.
- Three to five years directly related work experience including working with complex databases.
- Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Advanced MS Excel skill including Macros, Pivot tables, V-lookup.
- Working knowledge of Excel (VBA)-Visual Basic for Applications
- Advanced competency with accounting software (GP Dynamics and Management Reporter preferred).
- Superior and proven organizational and administrative skills, including an ability to work to deadlines.
- Superior and proven accuracy to detail required.
NOTES:
- This is a full-time (35 hours per week) position. It may be necessary at times to work in excess of 35 hours per week during audits: including evenings and weekends.
- Restriction on vacation prior to and during the year-end closing and annual audit (approximately 8 weeks/year)
